FAIRVIEW

The first church in Wilbur was organized in 1851 by Rev. William Yerkey. The meetings were held in a log school house near the home of Robert Davis. There were six charter members. Later a log church was built on the farm of Daniel Weekley, father of Bishop William Weekley. This building burned in 1857 and a new building was erected near the home of Daniel Weekley.  It was given the name of Fairview.  The charter members were: Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Weekley, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Doak, Bowers Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis and their two daughters, and there were probably others. The present Fairview Church was built and dedicated in 1906. This church has been renovated in recent years and is active, with Earl Fletcher as the minister.
