NOTES FROM THE WEBMASTER

Update                                              June 2002
For several reasons (including  laziness), the site has not been updated for quite some time.  I have recently made some changes and additions including a "Wilbur Family Album." and "Obituaries."  Material about the history of Wilbur or photos, stories, etc. are not easy to come by.  I have had some contributions (for which I would like to thank Kendra Cottrill Wyke and Laura Keys), but most of the material has come from family photos and personal research.  If the site is to expand, I need material.  I would love to have photos of many of the Wilbur families that I am missing.  I am asking anyone who has photos of Wilbur residents - old or new - Obituaries (vintage or recent), that they are willing to share, stories, or facts about the past in Wilbur, to contact me.  Together we can preserve a way of life, even if it is only on our computer screens.  Thanks,

UPDATE                                     AUGUST 2003

Well, it has been over a year and I am finally making another update. You may notice on this update that a number of obituaries have been added. I would like to thank Reva (Williamson) Rowland for contributing several of these that her mother had clipped from the newspapers.  Also thanks to Avis Rader for the contribution of photos of the Dillon family.  Brad Weekley also is always on the lookout for any items that we can use here.  It is only through the efforts of kind folks like this that I am able to add anything new  to the site.  There must be many photos and clippings stored away that others would enjoy seeing. Please, if you have any items that you can contribute, or you know a story that we might use, drop me an email and  we will make arrangements to get copies so that others may share the memories and we can make the village live again

UPDATE                        FEBRUARY  2004

On this update I have totally revised the Church section and added quite a bit of material.  Numerous obituaries have been added; some old and unfortunately some new.  Several new photos also have been added to the Family Album and Wilbur Scenes. Also, an article has been added to Recollections.

I would like to thank the contributors who have made this update possible:  Gloria (Keys) Murphy, Avis Rader, Reva Rowland, Brad Weekley, Anna (Weekley) Griffin, and  finally Kendra (Cottrill) Wyke who has been actively seeking material to use on the site, and some of which I am working on for use in a future update.  You are making the site more useful and enjoyable for all.  Thank you again.

Roy

UPDATE                                                 6 June 2004

Thanks for this update go to Jeff Mercer and his mother Ruth.  They have contributed numerous photos of the Mercer and McKinney families and moreover, two family   obituaries. Also, Jeff included some photos of Kersey and Boreman in the store, which certainly made my day and brought back many memories.  I hope that you enjoy these photos as much as I have.

You may notice that I have broken the Family Album page up into three sections.  I did this to make the pages load a little faster.  They are in chronological order.

Watch for another update in the near future.

Roy

UPDATE                                         MARCH 22, 2005

This update includes several new photographs and additions to the "Recollections" area.  I would like to thank David Hall and his mother Winona Pratt Hall for contributing several  new photos of the Pratt and Carney families.  Brad Weekley also donated several photos. Thanks to Edwina Bailey for the "Recollection" items about Harmon McKinney's columns in the Star News.

As always, we are soliciting photos, news clippings, obituaries, or any other items that are related to Wilbur. There are many families that are not represented in the "Albums" and I know that there has to be photos out there.  I am agreeable to most any arrangement to obtain copies of photos while keeping them safe.  If you have items of interest or know of someone who does, please think about contributing.  Thanks.

Roy
